Winter brings colder weather and a rise in illnesses such as colds, flu, COVID-19, and chest infections. As a church community, caring for our health is part of stewarding the body God has given us.

How to Stay Well This Winter

 1. Protect Yourself from Infections

• Wash hands regularly with soap and water.
• Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.
• Stay home and rest if you feel unwell.

Good hand hygiene and staying home when ill reduce the
spread of winter infections.

2. Keep Warm

• Keep indoor rooms warm, especially living areas.
• Wear layers and warm socks. Children lose body
heat faster than adults, please be attentive to their needs by
dressing them in layers rather than one thick outfit; ensure
hands, feet and head are covered when outdoors.
• Eat regular hot meals and drink warm fluids.
Cold weather increases the risk of heart and respiratory
problems, especially in older adults.

3. Support Your Immune System

Eat fruits, vegetables, and warming meals.
• Stay hydrated, even if you don’t feel thirsty (About
1.2-1.5 Litres of fluid per day).
• Consider vitamin D during winter months.
Vitamin D deficiency is more common in winter due to
reduced sunlight.
4. Look After Your Mental Well-Being
• Stay connected with family, church, and friends.
• Talk to someone if you feel low or overwhelmed.
• Pray and reflect on God’s promises.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield.” – Psalm 28:7
Mental health challenges often increase during winter due
to reduced daylight and isolation.

A Call to Care

Please check on elderly members, those living alone, and anyone with long-term health conditions.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

Bible verse
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
